Blessing Of Solar Panels
Berwick Parish (the most northerly C of E parish in England) had its roof top solar panels blesssed by the Bishop of Berwick, as part of its church eco-project, which includes re-wilding the churchyard, planting indigenous trees and flowers, providing a bee hive, insect hotels, bird and bat boxes etc.
The paperwork and preparation involved in getting permissions from various authorities might have put many off - but not our indomitable eco-group!
Although there were main services in the morning and evening, and many worshippers do not live on the doorstep, about forty people turned out for this 2.0 pm service. This reflected the World Council of Churches Creation Season worship materials and the sermon pointed that that this fu;fils the fifth of the Anglican Church's Five Marks of Mission: 'To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain and renew the life of the earth'.
The Bishop of Berwick climbed on to the roof of this unique building from the time of Cromwell. A talented school boy organised a drone,. This enabled us to produce a You-Tube of the occasion. Clickj here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmKO51cAt8M .
