A Prayer For South Africa
One of our much loved and heroic Aidan and Hilda community members from South Africa, Bishop Eric Pike, has issued this prayer for his country. Why not use it and apply it to your situation?.
Father your Word tells us to: ‘act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with you.’ (Micah 6:8)
Yet in my mind, I keep hearing of Sharpville, Marikana and Maduna Street Uitenhage. Forgive us Lord and teach us to live according to your Word.
Father your Word tells us to: ‘act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with you.’
Yet in my mind, I keep hearing of District Six, South End and Sophia Town. Forgive us Lord and teach us to live according to your Word.
Father your Word tells us to: ‘act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with you.
Yet in my mind, I keep hearing of, Fraud, corruption, of rape and the abuse of women. Forgive us Lord and teach us to live according to your Word.
Father your Word tells us to: ‘act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with you.
Yet in my mind’s eye I see, Row upon row of men at street corners, searching for work, stinking pit toilets & dilapidated mud walled schools. Forgive us Lord and teach us to live according to your Word.
Father your Word tells us to: ‘act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with you.
Yet in my mind’s eye I see, Shacks, people’s homes jumbled one on top of the other, twisted, burnt out corrugated iron after another fire and I see bereaved and weeping survivors. Forgive us Lord and teach us to live according to your Word.
Father, your heart is torn apart and weeps. So, please teach us to: ‘act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with you.'
