Covid 19

This week:

  • I went into total isolation (along with most of UK) except for one walk a day away from others as the covid 19 plague rages across the world
  • I tweeted  ‘Come into the deserts of hospital workers, patients, workless and isolated millions: clothe them with beautiful inner garments as surely as the earth brings forth her blossoms’.
  • I sent a Covid 19 daily prayer booklet to all sorts of people, such as a friend who sends inspirational material from the rota of worship leaders to all the usual worshippers at a Wednesday church service.  You can download this from this web site.
  • I sent a completed manuscript to a publisher of a book entitled ‘Scotland and England – sacred bonds: saints from Tay to Humber’
  • I received a copy of the new book published by Anamchara Books New York: ‘Tree of Life: Celtic Prayers to the Universal Christ’. In her introduction Ellyn Sanna writes ‘Inspired by traditional Celtic prayers Ray Simpson’s words speak of the wonder and beauty and love that God reveals to us through Christ, the Tree of Life that includes all that is’.
  • I stepped outside at 8.0 pm last night and clapped in appreciation of our front-line National Health workers along
  • with the Queen and a million others who opened their front doors to clap.
  • Phone callers suggested that this plague is God’s judgement on a world that has turned its back on God.  It is certainly a wake up call. It could be a prelude to millions realising that the rat race needs to be replaced by The Way – the Way of simplicity and authenticity, the Way of prayer in the rhythms of the sun, the Way of Jesus.
  • People link up by internet and phone. They suggest ways to exercise in the home.  I suggest we also need little projects, and little reflection stops four times a day. And prepare for a good death and a great life lived to the full.
