Join Our Istanbul Pilgrimage

Aidan and Hilda Pilgrimage to  Ecumenical Patriarch in Istanbul

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in Istanbul has graciously offered an audience to Aidan and Hilda and ecumenical friends on Saturday December 15 at 15.00. A member from Denmark, Norway, UK and USA have already signed up. We would love it if you can join us. Penny Warren is preparing schedules.

Just book yourself in to Troya Hotel in the Phanar neighbourhood (which has been commended and has reasonable prices) The week’s pilgrimage will include visits to Hagia Sophia, The Blue Mosque, Topkaki Palace, the mosaics at Church at Chora Museum, Sunday church worship and other places.

Book a flight to Ataturk airport arriving December 10 and departing December 17. There are reasonably priced flights from most major airports to Ataturk airport. The hotel gives advice re transport from the airport to the hotel.  You may need to obtain a visa on-line.

We will need to share the cost of taxis to the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

A good preparation for the pilgrimage is to read Encountering the Mystery: Understanding Orthodox Christianity Today by Patriarch Bartholomew, which resonates with The Community of Aidan and Hilda Way of Life.

Let me know if you have booked

This week Iam a steward at Berwick Literary Festival and then  lead a retreat for the Iona Community on Celtic Christianity.  Pray for us.
